We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go,

We take a little of each other everywhere.

–Tim McGraw

I’ve been learning a lot about needing each other. I’ve never been good at it, and it feels good to be learning, even still. A brief tangent, one of my all-time favorite quotes is Michelangelo’s, “I am still learning.”

When we launched Tomorrow Needs You, our suicide prevention partnership with KOBI NBC5 and many others (https://kobi5.com/category/features/tomorrow-needs-you/), I wasn’t encouraged by the name of it.

Being needed made me tired. I happened to be watching a Netflix show this past Sunday, Alone Australia, and was blown away. The winner of the show shared a powerful lesson she learned in doing the show. She shared that she has a lot of love in her life and loves and cherishes people and they love and cherish her.

I feel that way about life. And she went on to say she protected herself from needing others because she had this thing that if she needed someone they might die. I was astonished and realized that’s why I didn’t like the name, Tomorrow Needs You.

My walk in life has been one with much grief. I think of grief as something that walks with me. When it’s really bad, I think it holds my hand. When it’s not, it just walks with me. And I realized I can let that go.

Another great lesson in why I have the privilege of doing this work. I do need all of you reading this and I wanted to tell you that and say thank you.

Onward and “offward”…headed off on vacation.
