I often start my blogs with a quote and this morning I am stymied. I looked up quotes about “in the blink of an eye.”  They were about love, loss, music, art and oddly, aviation. I was seeking comfort in a quote. This morning was hard and somewhat personal. These times are like that for so many of us.

As I was waiting for my breakfast meeting, a man near me had what seemed to be a heart attack. My memory was flooded from 53 years ago when my dad suffered a fatal heart attack in the wee hours of the morning. My hands started to shake, and I felt really strong at the same time as I could be helpful if needed. I wasn’t needed. Luckily, there was a doctor having breakfast there and she took control of the situation. I said a prayer, ordered to go and walked back over to my office.

There is so much to do in our social sector now and some days it feels we don’t have the blink of an eye. We do and we must plan. We must maintain a constant sense of readiness as changes are made at the Federal level that impact our social fabric which was torn to begin with. There is work to do and we need you. We need all of us.

Onward…and blink it’s good for our eyes.
